Support Vlad's Urgent Medical Treatment

Hi everyone,

My darling cat, Vlad, has been hospitalized and is currently receiving emergency treatment for an impacted bladder. If you’ve had the pleasure of meeting him, you know he is the sweetest, most heartwarming cat you could ever imagine. Friendly and sociable, he adores people and gets along wonderfully with other animals, often making fast friends with dogs and anything else. I have been incredibly lucky to have him in my life since he was just six weeks old, and he will be turning four this February. This has been a heartbreaking week in Los Angeles with the fires and what so many people have lost over the past few days. This is small and insignificant next to that, but I don’t know where else to turn.

Vlad is currently at VCA Glendale, a 24-hour emergency pet hospital. I had no choice but to take him there last night (January 11) after I returned home from work and didn’t receive my usual warm greeting. I searched every corner of my large apartment building, only to find him curled up and hidden away, in a state of pain I had never witnessed before. He was howling in agony, and it broke my heart to see him like this.

With my regular vet closed on Sundays, waiting until morning was not an option. The moment I arrived at the emergency hospital, I was faced with immediate costs—a consultation fee of $205, which I was prepared to pay. However, the reality hit me hard when they presented the estimate for his treatment: between $6,700 and $8,376. They explained that he had an impacted bladder, which can stem from various causes, including diet changes or stress, and it was crucial he receive immediate care. I was relieved to learn his potassium levels were normal, but he needed a catheter to unblock his urethra and would have to stay for three days.

I was able to secure a small line of credit to cover a down payment of $3,300, but beyond that, I am at a loss for how to cover the remaining costs. Understanding that this is a very, very expensive vet, I was left with no choice but to accept those terms to save my cat. With the slow season for restaurants upon us and the potential impact of business the fires will bring on this, I feel like I have no option but to ask for help.

It is a lot to ask with all that’s going on. Any help to save Vlad and bring him home, we would both be eternally grateful.

Love,
Vlad & Davey
