Greetings to all you kind folk...
Well, here we are with another plea for aid for a legal immigrant (and his dear wife) who are facing deportation (and very possibly imminent detainment) who could truly use a bit of generosity. But in this case, he happens to be like family to me, as I've been friends with him for over 25 years. His name is Vladimir. He and his wife Valya, emigrated here not long ago after many years long journey battling cancer, political danger, and over ten thousand miles (back and forth) from Moscow to Florida. After spending every dollar they had going about their legal process of filing for asylum, they've run out of funds and are in continued need in order to pay for a viable immigration attorney. Due to the new executive orders to cease all claims of asylum (regardless of the typical legal process that people go through), he and his wife's hope that they would be able to live and contribute to their beloved adopted home (Vlad lived here previously after growing up in the former U.S.S.R. and came to love America more than anyone I know) have now fallen prey to this new reality we find our country in.
Vlad is proud. He doesn't ask for help easily. But I can ask on his behalf. He and Valya are in their 70s, and he has been working his tail off to support them during these months (he obtained a legal work permit through this process). He has court proceedings beginning this week that will quickly decide his very near future here. And if any of these potential funds come though, they would greatly help his ability to obtain legal counsel that might better his chances to (at least) not end up being shipped off to God knows where...
As it stands... this dear friend is also a master concert violinist. He has spent his life honing his beautiful art as a concert master, virtuoso, and incredible teacher. I met him in a show at the Denver Center years ago that ran for four years while we grew as friends.
The video at the top is from last year's Valentine's Day when I commissioned him to serenade my lady with a romantic violin piece. May it bring you all some beauty to your ears and your day, like it did mine and Nikki's...
