August 23rd a horrible thing happened in Deming. 3 young children went with their family to the Deming Duck Race carnival. What was supposed to be a fun filled evening quickly became a nightmare when young Vivanna was shot in her right upper arm. As of right now, police are still not sure where the shot came from or who is responsible.
Vivianna was taken to the Deming hospital, then on to an El Paso hospital. They released her from the hospital with the bullet still in her arm. She is awaiting appointments with specialist to determine the best way to remove the bullet and treat the trauma received to her little arm. Traveling to and from these appointments, and the cost of treatment is obviously going to take a toll on the young family. Vivianna and 2 of her siblings are extremely traumatized from the event. They are afraid to go to school, or to any large populated event. They are in need of family counseling, which obviously will also cost money.
We are asking for any support the family can receive from our wonderful community for these sweet children to be able to heal both physically and emotionally from this senseless act.
