Hi everyone, we have started this fundraiser for our father, Virgil Garcia. Virgil raised 3 foster children, alongside 3 stepchildren. We are reaching out to ask for your support for our dad, a kind, humble, and hard-working man who has always gone out of his way to help others, even when he had little to give, he’d find a way. Whether it was offering a ride, a vehicle, shelter, money, lending a hand, or praying with someone in need, he’s never hesitated to show up for the people in his life or even strangers. He worked at New Haven Youth and Family Services for 25 years concurrently with working at Casa De Amparo for 15 years. Over the last decade he has earned an honest and modest living in the Rideshare business. Again, helping others is what he has always done for so long. Now, he is in need of help.

He is currently home from being hospitalized for many symptoms related to stroke including: severe weakness, blurred vision, and numbness in his legs and hands. Thankfully after CT and neurology confirmation, the stroke code was cancelled. Doctors found his diabetes and heart were causing a few of the symptoms. Doctors also found other health issues occurring as well. We now have a better and bigger picture of what is going on with his health. We are now in the managing and recovery process.

We’re now raising funds to help with:

-Rent and utility bills while he starts recovery

-Groceries and hygiene products

He will be having a home nurse come multiple times a week concurrently with a physical therapist to assist with his mobility and trying to regain strength. We have paused the moving process for now as he will need to be in California for the for-see-able future until he can be re-evaluated.

He is still hesitant of receiving help from others as he is always the one providing the help. We still want to do everything we can to support him during this incredibly difficult time.
