Support Vicki in her Breast Cancer Journey

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, an active member of our community is fighting this fight!! Please join us in showing your support be it through this site, or just in shares, thoughts & prayers. In August of 2024 Vicki was diagnosed with 2 forms of breast cancer - Triple Positive Lobular and DCIS. We were surprised to find that Vicki had an unknown genetic condition (BRCA 2) that comes with a 60% risk of developing breast cancer! The great news is that this is treatable and she is expected to make a complete recovery.

In September 2024 Vicki started 6 rounds of chemotherapy at Mayo Clinic - followed by a surgery in January. The goods news came to follow shortly and as of early February, Vicki is in remission!!

Then came 3 weeks of radiation treatments. Daily trips to Mayo Clinic, she never went alone, being blessed with a family that walks right along with her in person and in spirit. While trying to accommodate her work schedule, this made for some late nights of not being home until after midnight. But exhausted and determined- we checked that box also!

The next step is still underway - Vicki is currently receiving 14 immunotherapry treatments (every 3 weeks) with a follow up surgery slated for January 2026.

This second step has not been without trials, after an infection developed, Vicki quickly underwent a 2nd surgery on September 15th. This small hurdle pushed back the original timeline as she had to pause treatments while taking time to heal.

As you could expect with treatments spanning 3 calendar years, and Vicki having to step back from her secondary sources of income, well over 100 trips to Mayo Clinic, and having to take time to healing, expenses can quickly accumulate.

Vicki has leaned heavily on faith and the love of family through the hardest days. While the road has been challenging, we are deeply grateful that the outcome looks very positive. The outpouring of support from the local community has been an encouragement.

We cannot express the gratitude for those friends and family who have continued to support us throughout this last year.
Any and all support (even just a share of her story) is so very helpful and appreciated. Each dollar will be used to help Vicki and her family with medical expenses. Donations can also be made in person at F & M bank in Preston, MN
