VGSQ - the Veterans Group of San Quentin - uplifts Veterans who are incarcerated by holding camaraderie events, by connecting Veterans in shared community, and by providing continued opportunities to be in service. VGSQ uplifts the San Quentin community, offering the Presentation of Colors at commemorative events such as graduation ceremonies, and through their leadership in providing service.

Their coordination of the annual holiday toy giveaway to children who are visiting loved ones who are incarcerated allows families to create positive memories and opportunities to bond. VGSQ honors all those at San Quentin who have served, which includes staff, and in doing so creates a safer, encouraging environment for rehabilitation and healing.
