I am the quartermaster of VFW Post 2712. I watch the funds come and go, pay bills, do monthly and quarterly reports etc. Over the last few years I have watched our accounts deplete by a death of a thousand cuts. Insurance costs and utilities are the main culprit while donations and club activity dont generate enough to offset the overhead. We provide funeral details for veterans who have passed on, parade color guards, Memorial day flag placement at the local cemetery, school programs, scholarships and much more. Unfortunately without a significant addition to our finances we will eventually close and the services we provide will no longer be available in Greenwood County. The state will take our real estate and inventory of flags and the post will be no more. If you can help it is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
