Support Verde K-8: Books and Sweaters for All

For the past two decades, I have hosted a Community Open House and Holiday Party at my office to raise funds for the children of Verde K-8 School in North Richmond. This year, we are raising $6,000 funds to provide every student with a book and a school sweater, which will help instill pride and encourage reading. As part of the year-end event, we will decorate the school to distribute gifts. The books we gift will celebrate diversity, unity, and overcoming barriers with the support of the community and friends.

The students at Verde Elementary are bright, talented, and hopeful about their futures. However, they are also growing up in one of the most challenging environments in the Bay Area. Every student at Verde comes from a family whose income qualifies them for free or reduced lunch.

I have represented North Richmond on the Board of Supervisors for over 20 years. Verde K-8 is the only school in North Richmond and plays a pivotal role in community initiatives, celebrations, and gatherings. I encourage you to join me and many others in supporting our future leaders and this critical community asset.

When we invest in our children, we invest in our collective future.

All donations must be received by Thursday, December 12th. You can donate here or write a check to the non-profit "CHDC of North Richmond" c/o 2024 Verde School Drive. Your donation can be mailed to my office at 11780 San Pablo Avenue, Suite D, El Cerrito, CA 94530.
