Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

Our lives changed forever on September 16 when we lost Vera.

What began as a fundraiser to help her fight cancer has now become a way to help her family navigate life without her.

Vera fought incredibly hard. She endured more than any one person should ever have to endure, and through all of it, the thing that mattered most to her was her family.

Her husband, Kendall, and her children, Ethan, Kadence, and Hendrick, were her whole world. She wanted more time with them. More birthdays. More holidays. More ordinary days together. More chances to watch her children grow and become who they were meant to be.

Her passing came after years of treatment, medical expenses, missed work, caregiving, and the financial strain that comes with a long cancer battle. Kendall’s work had already slowed significantly, and during Vera’s illness he had to step away from work for long stretches to care for her and be there for the kids. Now, he is navigating life as a full-time dad to Kadence and Hendrick while trying to figure out what comes next for their family and how to rebuild his work at the same time.

The support already given through this GoFundMe has helped in ways that are difficult to fully put into words. Donations have helped with funeral expenses, meals, school clothes, activities for the kids, the mortgage, transportation, and the everyday costs of keeping a family going while grieving an unimaginable loss.

Now, the focus has shifted to helping Kendall and the kids find stability and begin rebuilding their lives.

Funds raised will help with household expenses, the mortgage, counseling and mental health support for the children, school needs, activities that help bring some sense of normalcy, transportation, and giving Kendall time to get back on his feet professionally while continuing to be present for the kids.

This family has been through an extraordinary amount in a very short period of time, and the road ahead will take time.
