Hi friends! We are raising funds for one of ARHC's most recently hired, and subsequently fired, workers and her best friend, who are currently facing housing instability. We are committed to taking care of our community - no one should ever have to live out of a car.
We are hoping to get Venus and Levaris some short-term housing to provide some stability and a safety net as they navigate homelessness and finding new employment. Read below for a little more about Venus and Levaris in their own words:
Fired. Discarded. Unbroken.
Venus was fired from ARHC, an organization providing abortion access and gender-affirming care. After only two weeks and two days, deemed “disposable” for reasons beyond her control. Despite this, Venus has been building Taste Her Velvet, a space where Black, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+ women of color can be loud, seen, and heard, a community to express rage, frustration, and anger toward systems that weren’t designed to help us, but work against us.
Since March 2025, Venus and Levaris have faced homelessness, navigating life without stability, yet they’ve persisted. Through this journey, people are starting to notice, care, and support their journey and that support is what allows them to keep building and raising their voices.
Originally, their GoFundMe goal was $6,300, enough for two months of support. They've recently updated it to $14,360 to cover four months of stability, giving Venus and Levaris the space to not only survive and find ground, but continue creating Taste Her Velvet.
They are loud for the underrepresented and allow their voices and others to be unapologetically heard.
In just a week, they've reached $1,000, a powerful start, but there’s still more to do. Your donations keeps them alive. Your support keeps their advocay fueled with fire. Help them continue building, surviving, and creating a community for voices that too often go unheard.
Who is Venus?
I’m a first-gen Jamaican woman of Maroon Indian descent, a roaring lesbian, and unapologetically devoted to women’s voices and the full spectrum of our rights, wrongs, and truths.
I was proud to be part of the team at ARHC, providing abortion access and gender-affirming care. But after only two weeks and two days, I was fired and deemed “disposable” despite my dedication. We want to deeply thank Noah for helping organize this fundraiser and for boosting and collaborating on our posts via Instagram.
Although Levaris and I have been homeless since March of 2025, the creative work I do remains deeply personal and rooted in bodily autonomy, choice, and resistance.
It is directly tied to my goal of returning to school for Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. This degree serves as the foundation of my journey in building networks that center women and LGBTQIA+ communities without compromise.
As a writer and multidisciplinary artist, my work lives at the intersection of power, resilience, intimacy, devotion, and liberation through a powerfully sapphic lens. I aim to remind women that we are allowed to want more:
More pleasure, more safety, more depth, more joy, more authenticity, and more expression.
As women and as people, we are valid, angry and hurting, grieving, complex and sensual, soft and healing, and for some of us, whole. I want to continue holding that space for us at every stage.
We have been fighting. We have been silenced. Some of us were never given a chance to speak.
I believe care and support, in all aspects, should never be conditional, apologetic, or controlled. By supporting us, you’re helping us regain stability, independence, and the ability to continue pursuing our passions.
Who is Levaris?
I’m a non-binary, masc lesbian creative with a deep love for storytelling, performance, and world-building. I’m drawn to voice acting, comedy, music, and animation.
These mediums let me explore emotion, humor, and identity while creating spaces where queer people feel seen and reflected.
Right now, I’m working gig apps while actively pursuing stability. I’m confident in my work ethic and driven by the desire to leave a legacy rooted in representation, laughter, and authenticity.
My goal isn’t just visibility, but impactful stories that linger and characters that feel real. This fundraiser is about more than getting through the next two months. It’s about moving out of survival mode and back into creation, where we do our best work, build lasting futures, and contribute meaningfully to our communities.
Your support helps make all of this possible. We appreciate every $1 and every contribution through GoFundMe or Cash App. We truly couldn’t do this without you. If you’re able, please consider sharing this with your friends or on your socials to help us reach as many people as possible
