Valley of the Queers was born from a deep need for queer spaces in rural northern Italy, spaces where LGBTQ+ people can feel safe, seen, and connected. This gathering invites queer individuals to come together in community, to create, share, and explore our relationship with the natural world through the lens of queer ecology. It will take place at Valleponci, an agriturismo in the Ligurian hills rooted in organic farming and care for the land.

Over 24 hours, participants will connect with the land through shared meals made from food grown on the farm, workshops centered on queer identity and expression, and moments of storytelling, learning, and celebration. Together, we will challenge rigid binaries and imagine more sustainable, connected ways of living, with each other and the natural world- amongst humans and non-human beings.

Valley of the Queers is a non-profit event. Entry fees help cover food and lodging, but we never want cost to be a barrier to belonging. This crowdfunding campaign exists to help subsidize event costs and ensure greater accessibility to potential participants. Any funds raised beyond event costs will be donated to Casa Pride, an LGBTQ+ association based in Piedmont, Italy.

In a time when queer lives and spaces are increasingly under threat, building resilient, caring communities is an act of survival and resistance. By nurturing spaces rooted in openness, care, and connection, we hope to empower one another and strengthen the communities we need to fight for equality, dignity, justice, and the future of our planet. Just as biodiversity sustains ecosystems, human diversity sustains our collective strength, dignity, and survival.

Valley of the Queers nasce da un profondo bisogno di spazi queer nelle aree rurali del Nord d’Italia, luoghi dove le persone LGBTQ+ possano sentirsi sicure, riconosciute e connesse. Questo incontro invita le persone queer a ritrovarsi in comunità, per creare, condividere ed esplorare il nostro rapporto con il mondo naturale attraverso la lente dell’ecologia queer. Si svolgerà a Valleponci, un agriturismo nelle colline liguri fondato sui principi dell’agricoltura biologica e sulla cura della terra.

Nelle 24 ore, lə partecipantə si connetteranno con il territorio attraverso pasti condivisi, preparati con cibo coltivato direttamente in fattoria, workshop incentrati sull’identità e l’espressione queer e momenti di narrazione, apprendimento e celebrazione. Insieme sfideremo i binarismi rigidi e immagineremo modi di vivere più sostenibili e connessi, tra di noi e con il mondo naturale - tra esseri umani e non-umani.

Valley of the Queers è un evento no-profit. Le quote di partecipazione servono a coprire cibo e alloggio, ma non vogliamo che il costo diventi una barriera all’appartenenza. Questa campagna di crowdfunding esiste per sovvenzionare l’evento e renderlo più accessibile. Eventuali fondi raccolti che eccedano i costi dell’evento saranno donati a Casa Pride, un’associazione LGBTQ+ con sede in Piemonte.

In un tempo in cui le vite e gli spazi queer sono sempre più minacciati, costruire comunità resilienti e solidali è un atto di sopravvivenza e resistenza. Coltivando spazi fondati sull’apertura, la cura e la connessione, speriamo di sostenerci a vicenda e di dare forza alle comunità necessarie per lottare per uguaglianza, dignità, giustizia e il futuro del nostro pianeta. Così come la biodiversità sostiene gli ecosistemi, la diversità umana sostiene la nostra forza, la nostra dignità e la sopravvivenza collettiva.
