For the past two decades, the United Community Center of Westchester, Inc. (UCCW), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located at 360 North Avenue, New Rochelle, NY 10801, but serving individuals from all surrounding areas, has been committed to one mission: helping every person access the services and resources available to them and empowering them to become self-sufficient. Since opening our doors, UCCW has been a pillar of hope, compassion, and stability. We stand beside low-income families, seniors, immigrants, individuals with disabilities, domestic violence survivors, and those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We have supported our community through every hardship, every crisis, and every moment of need.

Our services span a wide range of essential supports, including health care access, education, legal assistance, youth development, emergency food and housing services, and protective resources for women, seniors, immigrants, and vulnerable workers. We have always remained open during natural disasters and emergencies, never turning anyone away.

On Thursday, 10/30, a severe storm caused major flooding inside our facility, destroying equipment and forcing us to temporarily close or relocate. The building was declared unsafe, yet our mission has not stopped. We continue serving families outdoors, remotely, and wherever we are needed, delivering food to seniors and meeting domestic violence victims in crisis because the need in our community has only grown.

Funding cuts, drastic immigration law changes, increased ICE activity separating families, and the winter months that leave many out of work have placed even more individuals at risk. These challenges have increased the number of people struggling with homelessness, food insecurity and the need for affordable housing.

We are relaunching this GoFundMe campaign to raise the critical funds needed to repair the damage, sustain our programs, and reopen stronger than ever. UCCW has always been more than a building. It is a refuge, a family, and a place where hope is restored.
