Support Uncle Jack, a WWII Veteran Turning 102

Hi, friends :)
Damon here on behalf of my Grand Uncle Jack, also known to many of you on social media as @AskUncleJack.
Uncle Jack will turn 102 years old this July. A WWII veteran and lifelong character, Jack has touched the hearts of millions online with his wit, warmth, and wisdom. But behind the viral videos and famous quotes is a much deeper story: a story of love, resilience, and family.
Jack and I have been best friends since I was 9 years old. We used to hike, birdwatch, and catch lizards together, and now, decades later, I’m still holding his hand, caring for him every day. In 2008, when my father passed away, I became Uncle Jack’s primary caregiver. With no spouse, children, or financial safety net, Jack’s care became my responsibility… and my honor.
Through years of navigating VA programs, doctor visits, and housing options, I did everything I could to keep him safe. But as Jack’s health needs increased, so did the costs. In 2021, with nowhere else to turn, I launched a GoFundMe and began sharing our story online.
And then… something beautiful happened. People listened. They cared. They showed up.
Today, Uncle Jack has over 3 million followers across social media, and thanks to their kindness, he’s living in a safe assisted living facility in Camarillo with daily caregivers who help combat the isolation so many elders face.
But we still need help.
Jack’s monthly income from Social Security and the VA is under $2800. His care and housing needs cost $5000–$6000/month. There’s no savings, no cushion, just this campaign, and the love that fuels it.
Every dollar raised goes directly to Uncle Jack’s care, helping me cover the difference, pay his caregivers, and ensure he has the dignity, comfort, and connection he deserves in these final chapters of life.
If you've ever smiled at one of his videos, or felt inspired by his joy, we’d be so grateful if you’d consider donating or sharing this campaign. It truly keeps him going.
As Jack likes to say:
“If you’ve got a buck, then I’m in luck!”
With love and gratitude,
Damon
