Alongside the struggle for independence, we are also fighting for equality. The war has significantly worsened the situation for the LGBTQI+ community in Ukraine: holding Pride events has become life-threatening and far-right groups have intensified their attacks. However, we cannot allow the voice of Ukraine’s LGBTQI+ community to be silenced.

Ukraine today stands as a shield defending the global understanding of the value of human rights. Our resistance is not only a fight for freedom and democracy within our country but also a defense of fundamental rights and dignity, which are the foundation of the free world.

Due to the inability to organize a proper Pride in Ukraine, as UKRAINEPRIDE initiative we try to use the opportunity to be heard at international Pride events, committed to ensuring the presence of Ukrainian LGBTQI+ activists, supporting the visibility of Ukrainian queer community, and making it clear to the world that the fight for human rights in Ukraine is part of a broader global movement for justice and equality.

In times of war and financial crisis, we lack resources to fund our participation independently, as Ukrainian businesses and the government provide no support.
