Let me introduce you to the most wonderful human I know (hold for drumroll): TYLER! Tyler is an amazing dancer, a compassionate teacher, and one of the kindest souls I’ve ever met. They are a handsome member of the trans community, and they show up in the world with so much compassion and quiet strength. Tyler is someone who gives so much to the people around them, through their art, their work, and just the way they move (and dance) through life.

They teach special needs kids at a gymnastics studio, and honestly? Watching them work with those kids is something I wish everyone could see. They create an environment where everyone feels safe, welcomed, and seen. It’s rare. It’s beautiful. And it’s just one of the many ways Tyler makes this world better.

This summer, in July, Tyler is getting top surgery, a huge and life-changing step for them. This surgery will bring them so much closer to the person they truly are, and it means everything. But like so many gender-affirming surgeries, it’s expensive, under-supported by insurance, and something they simply can’t afford on their own as a working artist. That’s why I’m starting this fundraiser, because Tyler would never ask for this themselves, but they deserve all of it and more.

We’re trying to raise $8,000 to help cover the cost of surgery and the income they’ll lose while recovering. Every dollar brings Tyler closer to this care they’ve needed for so long, care that is absolutely vital and life-affirming. I believe with my whole heart that when we support each other, especially our trans and queer family, we create the kind of world we all want to live in.
