GVILLE DREAMING WITH TYGUR

If you are a Gainesville native, you may have met Tygur. He is what we ACRs call Gainesville famous. More than just a street artist; Tygur embodies the spirit of Gainesville - a true beacon of creativity and compassion in our community. I met Tygur many years ago at the downtown farmers market before I worked with folks on the street through a local shelter. Tygur is a local street artist who has love for people from all walks of life. During my time facilitating the garden at the shelter, Tygur has often volunteered with us, bringing his artistic ideas and ability to unify people behind a cause. Tygur has also served as an activist for folks on the street, building bridges between them and various organizations. At one point years ago, I remember Tygur creating a club made up of his peers to help other houseless people who have disabilities. They took turns ensuring people could get to the shelter kitchen and juggle moving in their wheelchairs while carrying their food and looking out for people who were elderly and sick. Tygur has always had a remarkable drive to unite people to create something beautiful amid hardship, something he got from his late mother, a local street preacher from the Eastside.
Tygur, a visual and performance artist, has left an indelible mark on the streets of Gainesville. His sculptures and mixed media paintings, crafted from found materials are a testament to his unique perspective and spirituality. His art, a reflection of his identity, delves into the unseen complexities of navigating the world from many perspectives. Tygur's talent is undeniable, and his art is a powerful force that unites people.
Recently, Tygur found a stable home to stay in with his girlfriend, Jennifer. He is doing really well, but since the last time he was displaced, he has lost all his art supplies. Now that Tygur is housed permanently, he's ready to get organized with his artwork. We have organized this fundraiser to give people the option of purchasing the materials directly, giving in kind, or donating money to get him both back on his feet and to the next level as an artist.
Let’s rally together to show Tygur the profound impact he has made in our town. Together, we can help him rise, creating beauty from adversity and inspiring others to do the same. Your support can be a powerful catalyst for his journey as we honor a remarkable talent who has given so much to our community. Let’s elevate Tygur’s voice and art—he truly deserves it!
To give in kind, Tygur has created a Walmart wishlist.
