Gracias por verte cruzado por mi camino. No puedo expresar lo mucho que significas en mi vida. Te quiero mucho... hoy y siempre deseándote lo mejor.
Amiela means "[she] makes honey." It's a rather uncommon word. Most Spanish speakers have never heard it uttered. It is said only of the bees, who carry out this vital industry without much regard at all for their own hard labor or the sting it often brings. Honeybees make honey, and honey is liquid sunshine. Sunshine is not available every day of the week to give us comfort, but the love and understanding we can offer to those who have struggled with depression and self-harming behaviors is. They deserve our love, our understanding, our compassion, and—not least—our respect. We pay our respects to the honeybees in our lives. We remind them how grateful we are to have crossed paths with them and how we wish the very best for them—today and always.
Time is the most precious gift we can give, and that's what we most desire for those we love: time. Please, search your hearts and consider donating to this most-important cause. It is so much closer to home than most of us might realize because the shame and guilt that often drive and result from these behaviors can render them invisible to us. No one should ever be made to feel bad or ashamed for self-harming or attempting suicide, or for thinking about doing either of these. We know that it is pain that is to blame, and not the person suffering from it. As much as we might like to have one, there is no cure for pain. We all feel it. It is an inescapable part of life. We cannot cure pain, but we can show compassion. We can open up about our own struggles without shame or embarrassment, and this openness is contagious—it gets everything out into the sunlight. Honey is liquid sunlight. Let's make honey.
Open up. Share your stories. Share your tattoos. Share your art. Share your poetry. Spread this message. Spread a little love. A little bit of love can go a very long way.
