My name is Troy Barile. I am an independent investigative systems journalist and the writer behind The Fallout with TBS. My work focuses on the Epstein files, the Ghislaine Maxwell aftermath, survivor-harm dynamics, and the public pressure systems that form around people who try to document uncomfortable things. Becoming close with some of the survivors of Epstein and Maxwell has been a blessing and that is why I cannot just stop this work, and why these individuals are coming after me so aggressively.

I am asking for emergency help because the harassment around my reporting has crossed into physical safety, false reporting, and legal danger.

For months, my work has been followed by public smears, threats, false accusations, and repeated attempts to make me look dangerous instead of answering what I have documented. In the last 16 hours, the situation became much more serious. I received additional threats to my life and was also contacted after law enforcement (The FBI) received another report about me, this time claiming I was writing people’s names on bullets and posting them on Substack.

That claim is false.

It is also the kind of lie that can get someone hurt before the truth catches up.

I have filed reports, preserved screenshots, documented what is happening, and have tried to handle this through official channels. I have been told there are now nearly two dozen reports connected to the situation, but the danger has kept escalating instead of stopping.

My husband Shawn is terrified and I am terrified. We need to leave our home for a while, retain a lawyer immediately, preserve the evidence properly, secure our accounts and devices, and protect our household while we figure out the next step.

We do not have the money sitting there to absorb this. A few weeks ago, we spent our savings on emergency veterinary care and cremation for our cat. That loss was already devastating. Now we are facing emergency relocation, legal help, security costs, and the immediate reality that we do not feel safe staying where we are.

This fundraiser is an initial emergency safety fund. The goal is $10,000. The money will go toward temporary safe housing, pet-safe lodging, transportation, an initial legal retainer, security cameras or monitoring, digital security, evidence preservation, and basic household expenses while we deal with the immediate danger.

I hate having to ask and I am extremely embarrassed to ask. But, I am asking because embarrassment cannot be the thing that decides whether Shawn and I are safe.

Any amount helps, sharing helps, or even quietly sending this to someone who can help with legal support, press-freedom support, emergency housing, or security also helps.

I will provide updates as safely as possible without disclosing our location, travel plans, security setup, or legal strategy.

I have spent months telling people to look at the documents. Right now, I need help staying safe long enough to keep doing that work. I am so close to the truth that I am a threat and Ghislaine Maxwell, herself, now knows me by name.
