Hi, my name is Sam Giacalone, and I serve as the Scoutmaster for Troop 220.
Last week, our troop experienced a heartbreaking setback: our troop trailer was stolen. Even with locks on the doors and tongue, inside that trailer was thousands of dollars' worth of essential camping and outdoor equipment—tents, cooking gear, patrol boxes, tools, and supplies that our Scouts rely on for campouts, training, and outdoor adventures year-round.
Much of this equipment is not covered by insurance or will be reimbursed quickly, if at all, and without it, our Scouts' ability to camp, learn, and grow through Scouting is immediately impacted. Troop 220 is an active, youth-led unit, and the outdoor program is at the heart of everything we do. Replacing this gear is critical to keeping our Scouts in the field and continuing the experiences that build confidence, leadership, and resilience. Troop 220 is the only family troop serving families across the East Side of Anchorage.
This fundraiser will help us:
Replace vital camping and outdoor equipment lost in the theft
Purchase a replacement troop trailer to safely transport and store gear moving forward that the troop and families have worked so hard to accumulate.
Every dollar raised goes directly to Troop 220, which is chartered, owned, and operated by the Anchorage Midtown Rotary. Funds raised through this campaign do NOT go to the Great Alaska Council or Scouting America—they go straight to rebuilding our troop and supporting the youth we serve.
Your support helps ensure that one criminal act doesn't take away the opportunities these young people have worked so hard to earn.
Thank you for supporting our Scouts and helping Troop 220 get back outdoors where they belong.
