Hi, my name is Rudra Sharma, and I'm a Life Scout with Troop 998 in Pleasanton, CA, currently working toward earning the rank of Eagle Scout—the highest achievement in the Scouting program.

For my Eagle Scout Project, I’m building two transforming picnic table-benches for Sunflower Hill, a local nonprofit organization that provides programs and opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Sunflower Hill helps adults with special needs live, work, learn, and thrive as part of the greater community. The organization has expressed their immediate need for the benches before their summer camp starts in the next few weeks

These picnic table-benches will offer comfortable and versatile outdoor seating for residents and visitors, helping to create a more welcoming and inclusive community space for individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. Currently, the seating area at Sunflower Hill consists of tree stumps, which lack proper support and often cause discomfort and physical strain for guests. The new benches will provide sturdy back support and can easily convert into picnic tables, allowing families to gather and enjoy outdoor activities together.
