Tracy Foote was a 39yr old dedicated husband, devoted and fun-loving father to our 3 boys (15yr old, 5yr old, and 2yr old), son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. He was always strong, independent, and the one anyone could call for help. He rode bulls, fought local MMA, did construction and HVAC, so he was the definition of a Jack of all trades and Master of several.

He started to experience some weakness and balance issues keeping him from playing with his sons and working like he felt was necessary to provide quality of life to himself but mostly to us his family.

He decided to have a surgery he thought would restore him but unfortunately he trusted the wrong surgeon that instead put him in the hardest fight of his life.

He went in for outpatient Spinal Stenosis surgery at Crestwood on Thursday, Feb 20th. He was supposed to spend one night in the hospital before coming home for a 6mth rehabilitation and full recovery. His procedure started at 12:13 PM and the operation was only supposed to be 1 & 1/2 hrs. It was proceeding as planned until it wasn't. Our family's worst nightmare and fight of his life started around 1: 30 PM... Although, we wouldn't know it until around 3:45 when Dr. Dixit finally came out of the surgical OR to update us. During surgery Tracy had to have 6 units of blood due to blood loss. Only 2 were in the container which means 4 units of internal bleeding. The lead anesthesiologist was the only reason he didn't die on the table. The lead anesthesiologist told the surgeon to stop, pack his spine, and flip him for resuscitation protocol as his heart rate, pulse, and blood pressure were almost non-existent. They worked on Tracy for 30 minutes to an hour of CPR and defibrillator paddles before he was stable enough to move to Crestwood ICU.

He was in a non-responsive coma for 14 days until he finally opened his eyes on day 15. After several scans we were told he had a "mild" brain injury due to the lack fo oxygen and blood profusion as well as an incomplete spinal cord injury. They had to give him a tracheostomy and after the distension in his abdomen went down a feeding tube for nutrients. He laid in that bed barely responsive until a PT therapist decided to see if he/they could get him to sit up. It was on his wife's 40th birthday, March 19th, and the best present ever to see him sitting upright since the morning of February 20th.

It was still a battle with indections at Crestwood ICU until he was transferred to The Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia on April 2nd. They were able to get his white blood cell count into normal ranges within 48 hours (something Crestwood was never able to do the whole time he was their patient). He started speech, OT, and PT but it was an uphill battle trying to figure out the right combination of medications he needed to not only sustain life but thrive to participate in therapies. He was released to come home on June 9th. His wife had to get a wheelchair, patient bed, oxygen delivery as well as in home health visit for speech, OT, and PT to continue his progress. She stayed home woth him for 3 weeks mostly without pay to ensure a successful transition and fin suitable in-home nurse to cover his care so she could return to work.

They are still waiting on Disability approval, his insurance is over $600.00/month, the in home nurse is over $500.00/week, and that doesn't include the medical bills incurred during his hospital stay, transport via ambulance, and medical devices. They are only relying on her income to keep them going and with his care constantly adding more expenses they are struggling to stay afloat.

We know everyone is struggling right now but anything could help this family of 5 to keep them feed and allowing Tracy the vital care he needs to 100% recovery back to a dedicated husband and father of 3 boys. Tracy can now walk up to 91 feet and is slowly starting to remember the names of his 3 children. We hope woth your prayers and donations this nightmare can result in a MIRACLE.
