Support For Tony and Laura York
Friends and Family, we have not really spread the news to many people about our dad’s diagnosis of cancer in September of 2021. It was a normal day for dad on September 21, 2021, he was not feeling the best, but headed out to a ball game for his granddaughter. Everyone who knows Tony, he is not going to miss a ball game! He continued to decline that day, as we urged him to go to the doctor. He did agree and landed in the emergency room. As we waited for hours to see what was going on, unfortunately through a CT SCAN we were delivered devasting news that his scans showed several spots that did not look good. The hospital was quick to get him referred to the oncologist who determined it was a neuroendocrine cancerous tumor, that had developed in the lungs and has spread to other areas of the body. At that time the doctor told us it was a bleak outlook and that there was no cure, but he was going treat him with as many treatment plans, as dad could handle to slow the growth.
From that day forward our dad has forged ahead with a positive attitude, determined to keep living. He has done every possible treatment that the doctor has ordered for him. For the most part he was able to live a normal life with very little complications, still working part time to meet their financial needs, going to all his grandkids ballgames, all the while continuing his various doctor appointments and treatment plans and making ends meet. He currently is on his last option which is immunotherapy.
However, this past summer was really rough for him and mom. He spent pretty much July and August in and out of the hospital, on top of the cancer he developed a rare form of pneumonia that really took a toll on him. With all that has happened over the last two years, we have realized their financial situation has really been affected, since the diagnosis of his cancer. We are concerned that with little income coming in from social security only, that they will have trouble meeting basic monthly financial needs along with keeping up with medical insurance expenses and continued travel for doctor appointments. We are also concerned for his caretaker our mother, as dad’s health declines, that she will need assistance for the future.
All the funds raised from this group will be handled by the children of Tony and Laura York to help them through this difficult time of worry and uncertainty. We chose to do the go fund me as opposed to a benefit to try and help them immediately. Please continue to pray for our dad and mom and we will continue to update you on dad’s journey, as he continues to keep fighting to stay alive from this awful disease. We appreciate all who are able to show a little support for Tony and Laura York.
