Support Tiva and Jaynos' Home Birth Ceremony

Donation protected
Greetings relatives,

We are putting a call out to our community to come together and support one of our young families and contribute to their dream and goal of an out-of-hospital birth ceremony at home.

As an advocate of out-of-hospital birth and a deep believer that our Indigenous families deserve the right of reclaiming our birth ceremonies and bringing those ceremonies and bundles back into our homelands, back into our communities, back to our families, and back to our home fires,

Birth is one of our most sacred ceremonies; it is the emergence of a new little spirit into our world. To have that special sacred moment occur at home with loved ones, to have the birth of our little ones witnessed by an altar, instruments, elements, song, and prayer.

To have the first sounds be the sounds of our language and prayer, to have the first hands be the warm hands of a loved one, to have a softly lit space full of warmth and relatives. To have the parents be supported by family and community. To have their prayers, intentions, and preferences respected and heard.

That’s what we want for our niece and nephew. That’s what we want for our new little relative. Help us make that happen. Any help and support is welcome and greatly appreciated. Feel free to reach out directly if you like.

With the support of a midwife, Tiva and Jaynos want to be able to welcome their son’s arrival earthside in the comfort of their home surrounded by loved ones.

Funds will be used to cover midwife and birth assistant fees, birth kit and birth pool. Anything raised over and above our goal will go to the family to support them in the postpartum lying-in period, so Jaynos doesn’t have to rush back to work and can pause and be there to support and care for Tiva and the baby for as long as possible before returning to work.

Thank you and all my relations,
Jackie and Jose
