Support Tim Schneider's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Hi. My name is Mandy Schneider. I'm the proud wife of a firefighter. Here is my husband's story. My husband, Tim Schneider, suffered a hemorrhagic stroke on June 7th, 2024. We were 3 hours into a weekend cruise in Southern California. We were celebrating my parents' anniversary; it was their first cruise. Well, we made it memorable. I must say the crew of Royal Caribbean was fantastic. They stabilized Tim, and they had the LA Fire boat come pick us up. They transferred us to Torrance Memorial Hospital. Tim was in ICU for 2.5 weeks, in a coma for quite a while. His brain was full of blood. His whole right side was affected. I believe both the cruise ship and the staff at TMH saved my husband's life. We were at Torrance Memorial Hospital for 2 months. From Torrance, they transferred us to Craig Hospital in Englewood, Colorado. Craig is a state-of-the-art acute rehab center. Because of Craig, Tim was able to walk, talk, and use his right arm again. They're the best! Tim is on the road to recovery every day. Tim walks with his quad cane outside the house, and inside he tries to walk with his walking stick. His speech is so much better. Did I mention how he was 52 when he had his stroke and he was 3 years away from retirement? This man of mine has been working since he was 13 years old. It was finally going to happen; the pot at the end of the rainbow was so near. This has done a lot to his mental well-being. He was a jack of all trades and did it all. He took care of me, our animals, and our house. He literally did it all. If you know Tim, you know he's an amazing guy. He's a 6'2" goofball; his dad humor is eye-rolling and groan-inducing. Since the stroke, he suffers from depression. His career was taken from him; he didn't get to leave on his own terms. It bothers him. I can only tell him how much of a hero he was to our community, and now he's a hero for other stroke survivors. He's a true inspiration.

This is what I'm asking for. I'm looking to reach the goal of $20,000.00. $12,655.00 of that would go towards fixing our front yard. Because of the stroke, our front yard has been let go, and every time Tim walks out the front door, he gets a little bit more depressed. He always took care of the yard. I can't. I'm Tim's full-time caregiver and take care of everything inside the house. I'm tired; it's just him and me. I have my own health problems, and I have to pick what takes priority. Well, it's Tim and inside the house. I'm also needing a CA King bed that has a lift; it would help give Tim a little bit more independence. They are spendy. The rest of the money would go towards fixing up our back porch; it needs to be rescreened. Because of the policies of GoFundMe, I have set our goal for twenty thousand dollars, which they can only set at $6,000.00 and go up in increments each time the goal is met. I never thought of doing a GoFundMe till I saw Tim's mental health declining. I will do anything to make sure he's happy and healthy. Right now, we are only getting disability, and that only takes care of our house, car, and bills. Nothing extra at this time. I need people to be heroes for him now. I'm asking for help. No donation is too small. Please share and help my local hero. My everything. I can show receipts for everything as we go along. I'm open and honest about what we need the money for.

Thank you!
