Support Thurston County Scanner Team

The Thurston County Scanner, News, and Weather Blog consists of a group of volunteers who monitor public safety radio traffic on a near round-the-clock basis and bring information about activity to the community as close to real-time as possible. This includes information on crime, traffic, fires, collisions, etc.

Recently, the radio network used in Thurston County switched to digital frequencies, which rendered most of our scanners obsolete.

We have been able to identify an effective brand and model of scanner which will allow our volunteers to continue to monitor traffic and bring information to the community.

Unfortunately, these digital scanners are expensive and are financially out of reach for most of our team of volunteers. While we generally do not seek or accept offers of donations from our community, this transition has proved to be difficult for our team to continue their roles.

Today, we are humbly seeking financial assistance from our community to aid in the purchase of new scanners for our team. Any funds collected will be used for the purchase of new digital scanners and accessories. Any excess funds will be held for future expenses related to the page.
