Support through our brothers brain cancer battle
Donation protected
Hi, Im Bianca.
Asking for help is never easy. Creating this fundraiser was something I’ve wrestled with, but with the encouragement of a dear friend, here I am, reaching out with hope in my heart.
In September 2024, my younger brother just 31 years old was diagnosed with stage 3 brain cancer. What followed was a nightmare: an initial brain surgery with life-threatening complications, including blood clots in his heart, lungs, and brain. He underwent a second emergency brain surgery over New Years Eve. We came terrifyingly close to losing him. For anyone who's ever sat beside a loved one in ICU, you would understand: time stops. Life as you know it pauses, and everything becomes about survival.
My brother has just completed 6.5 weeks of intense brain radiation and remains in hospital rehab. The toll on his mind and body has been profound. He's now living with an acquired brain injury and Aphasia, impacting his ability to understand others, speak, read, and write. Doctors have confirmed he will require 24/7 support for the rest of his life.
He will be coming home soon to continue his rehabilitation and ongoing cancer treatment. This journey has shaken our small family (just myself and my two younger brothers) to its core. Emotionally and financially, it’s more than we ever imagined wed be facing. And while we've done our best to hold it together, we now need support beyond what we can manage alone.
Im hoping to raise funds for:
Emotional Healing
To access trauma-informed family psychology so we can process whats happened and show up as our best selves for him, and for each other.
Holistic & Complementary Therapies
To support his quality of life alongside medical care, giving him every chance to not only survive, but truly live his life.
Hearing Restoration
To fund ENT appointments & surgery he’s long needed to replace a missing eardrum so he can finally enjoy simple pleasures like hearing clearly, swimming in the ocean, and standing under a warm shower.
Creating Joy
To help him fulfil some of his dreams while he still can:
- Visiting family across the country (he cant fly due to brain pressure, so travel is limited to road trips, cruise ships, and trains)
- Meeting his favourite AFL team
- Going on fishing charters
- Maybe even travelling overseas one day if medically safe
Time Together
To reduce our work and financial pressure so we can simply be there when it matters most.
The photos shared here (with his permission) show him after surgery and now, alongside our beloved 13-year-old dog who never leaves his side. If you've made it this far- thank you. Your time means more than you know. Any contribution, share, or kind word helps us carry this weight.
With deep gratitude,
Bianca
