Anh Tran, or better known as Thomas, is a father of 4 who is currently being detained by ICE at North Lake Detention Facility since February 10, 2026 and is waiting for potential bond hearings, immigration court proceedings for removal, or expedited removal without a hearing.
He immigrated to the U.S. in 1985 when he was 7 years old. He is now 47. He's been living here for 40+ years and does not know life outside of the USA.
On February 10, 2026, he went to his annual check-in at the immigration agency to renew his work permit, which is what has allowed him to work and live in the US. One of his older brothers drove him there to renew his paperwork, but Thomas never came back out.
Since the Trump administration terminated deportation protections for those residing in the US on work permits, he was targeted because of stupid mistakes he made as an 18 year old that gave him a prior criminal history, but he is no longer that person. He has had a clean, spotless record for the last 20+ years, not even a parking or speeding ticket. He keeps his head down, works 6 days a week, 10 hours a day, to be the primary provider for his family and 4 sons. He now faces deportation to Vietnam, a country he hasn't stepped foot in over 40 years.
He is the father of 4 sons: Dominick (28), Minh (16), Donovinh (15), and Damian (6). He has 2 older sons from his first marriage and 2 with his current wife. He is very involved in all of his kids' lives. He is always willing to give a helping hand and never asks for anything back. Unfortunately, he does live paycheck to paycheck, so if he does get deported, this will affect his family emotionally and financially. If he does get deported back to Vietnam, thousands of miles will separate him from his family and he'll be alone in a place he's never known.
We are here to ask for help financially so that, if he does get deported, the donations will go towards his living in Vietnam and to support his children here in the US. The donations would also be allocated towards paperwork that, if possible, would allow for him to get a work visa in Canada. That way, he can at least be across the border as opposed to thousands of miles away. Unfortunately, this specific route can take more than 2 years to process IF approved.
We are going to fight to keep him here. The best case scenario is he doesn't get deported. If he remains in the US and is released, the money will go towards the process of getting him naturalized.
This horrible turn of events has rocked our family, but we will not lose hope. Thomas is someone worth all the effort, time and money. He is a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, hard worker and a friend. He's one of the most reliable, sweet-hearted, down-to-earth people you'll ever meet. Name any problem you have with your car, he'll fix it for you or send you to someone who can. Name any other problem you might have, he'll still try his hardest to help you because that's the kind of person he is. He is so deeply loved, and our hearts break every day to see one of our own in pain. To see every day how much this horrible situation has taken a toll on his physical and mental well being.
We have to accept that he may no longer be at family and holiday celebrations. He would call his mom every day and come over to hang out with her, but now he's being held at a facility all the way in Baldwin, MI. Thomas does not deserve to be ripped away from his family and be expected to start a new life somewhere. His life is here.
If you can't donate, please repost and share this so Thomas and his family can fight these circumstances and have the best chance at being together again.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for all the love and support❤️❤️❤️
