We are launching this GoFundMe to help protect a beloved family from the devastating threat of deportation back to El Salvador—a country they fled to escape violence, torture, and the very real threat of death. On Wednesday, June 11, Juan was detained by ICE and forcibly separated from his family. He now lives in fear of being returned to the dangers they once fled.

This family deserves safety, stability, and a future free from fear. With your support, we can help them fight for that future. The legal process is long and complex, but thanks to community support, they have retained one of the top immigration attorneys in Denver. All funds raised will go directly toward covering their legal fees.

We’ve known Astrid, Juan, and their children—Camilla and Rafael (Rafa)—for nearly four years. In that time, they’ve become family to us. It’s heartbreaking to see what they’re up against and to know the consequences if their case is not successful.

Astrid and Juan made the difficult decision to leave El Salvador in pursuit of a better, safer life for their children. What they experienced upon arriving in the U.S. was not what they expected. They initially sought help from someone they believed they could trust, but were quickly met with exploitation and hardship.

Despite these early challenges, they persevered. Juan quickly found work in the construction industry, specializing in custom finishing. Astrid also found work and pursued her passion for early childhood education—gaining hands-on experience while continuing to advance her skills and certifications.

Their children, Camilla and Rafa, enrolled in school and adapted to a new language and culture. Camilla amazed us all—not only learning English, but excelling in school and graduating a full year early just last month.

Rafa is a boy full of dreams and determination. He is deeply passionate about soccer and currently plays as a forward on his school team. Last year, he earned the Golden Boot award as the top scorer—a testament to his talent and dedication. He is known for his empathy, love for sports, and deep devotion to his family. He thrives in school and dreams of a future filled with opportunity.

This is a family who embodies resilience, hard work, and love. They’ve built a life filled with promise and potential here in the U.S. They are deeply connected to their community and contribute meaningfully every day.
