My dear friend SG (using initials to protect identities) was married to Kyle for 17 years. He was recently sentenced for the most horrible crimes.

As a mother to three daughters, the physical and emotional horrors that she is facing after discovering the horrible crimes her daughter endured are overwhelming to say the least. I've learned, however, through watching her suffer through the process that it is only part of the story of victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault.
You see, Kyle was the breadwinner of the family working in management at a big box retail store, earning a solid income to support his family. Before discovering that Kyle had been sexually assaulting her daughter for years, SG worked part time earning a fair hourly wage but spending most of her time supporting her family and managing the household.
When Mr. Gott was incarcerated not only did the family suffer the physical and emotional aftermath of discovering his abhorrent acts, but they lost the large majority of their household income which has now jeopardized the family's housing as the first and second mortgage is more than SG can afford. I've witnessed SG move mountains to survive for her children, in light of the pain she is experiencing and trying to see her family through. She is working full time, making every attempt to improve her education in her field to earn a higher wage, while continuing to try to support her children as a single mom to daughters who have been through a nightmare.
Kyle's sentence was light and feels unjust - but what feels even more unjust as I watch her work and hustle to keep her three daughters afloat is that she is busting her tail to cover the loss of household income, while his needs are met in jail.
If she can pay off the second mortgage on her home, she can afford to pay regularly on the first mortgage and keep her family in their house. She is working to liquidate any assets (retirement) the Kyle accumulated through his employment and it is almost enough. I started this go fund me on her behalf to help her cross the finish line on getting that second mortgage paid and deal with some of the other expenses she has had to face on her own as a result of being the victim and mother of the victim of such horrible crimes.
Any little bit helps. Thank you for considering her story.
