Dear Friends and Families,

You are probably aware of the extreme cruelty undocumented immigrants are facing in the United States esp. since last Summer. There are now over 250 crowded ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) detention centers in the US. At these centers the detainees are not given the right to call their families right away, get access to medications and often even clean water and decent food.

My friend’s father, let’s call him John, was forced to agree to self-deport to Mexico within a week after his arrest without seeing his family again. He knew he would have not survived months of unsafe health conditions awaiting him in an ICE detention center.

When his car was stopped on his way home from work, John, like many others in his position, was handled mercilessly. He was taken into a detention facility without legal representation, the ability to contact his family or access to his medication. His family was kept in the dark about his whereabouts for three days.

John came to California from Mexico 30 years ago. He worked in construction and made it possible for his wife and three children to have a safe life and a good education. Despite no criminal record John was never granted legal status.

As many other families in this country, John’s family has been broken apart. They are all in shock, traumatized, struggling emotionally and financially.

I’m outraged and sad. This is why I’m asking for donations to make a difference now, for this one family. Your financial support will lift them up and let them know there are people who still care for one another.

Your donations will go directly to John’s family, to help and to support John's health and new start from nothing in Mexico. For safety reasons I must keep the family’s identity private.

Ihr wisst wahrscheinlich von den Schwierigkeiten, mit denen Immigrant:nnen in den Vereinigten Staaten konfrontiert sind, insbesondere seit letztem Sommer. Es gibt mittlerweile über 250 überfüllte ICE (Einwanderungs- und Zoll Behörde) Haftzentren in den USA. In diesen Zentren wird den Inhaftierten nicht sofort das Recht gewährt, ihre Familien zu kontaktieren. Sie haben oft auch keinen Zugang zu Medikamenten oder zu sauberem Wasser.

Der Vater meiner Freundin, (ich nenne ihn John), wurde nach seiner Verhaftung gezwungen innerhalb einer Woche eine Entscheidung zu treffen. Entweder sofort nach Mexiko zurückzugehen, ohne seine Familie zu sehen und ohne jegliche persönlichen Sachen, oder auf unabsehbare Zeit in einem ICE Haftzentrum zu bleiben. John hat sich für die Rückkehr nach Mexiko entschieden, da er gesundheitlich nicht stark genug ist, in einem dieser ICE-Haftzentren für Monate zu überleben.

John wurde auf dem Nachhauseweg angehalten, verhaftet und in ein ICE Haftzentrum überführt. Er wurde körperlich angegriffen und mit rassistischen Ausdrücken gedemütigt. John durfte keine Medikamente oder persönliche Sachen aus seinem Auto mitnehmen. Seine Familie wusste drei Tage lang nicht, wo John war und was passiert ist.

John kam vor 30 Jahren aus Mexiko in die USA. Er hat als Bauarbeiter gearbeitet und seiner Frau und drei Kindern ein sicheres Leben und gute Ausbildung ermöglicht. Trotz keinen kriminellen Taten, wurde John nie eine Aufenthaltsbewilligung gewährt.

Wie viele andere Familien wurde John’s Familie über Nacht auseinandergerissen. John’s Familie ist im Schock und leidet emotional und finanziell.

Ich bin empört und traurig. Deshalb bitte ich um Spenden, um dieser einen Familie, in diesem Moment, zu helfen. Eure finanzielle Unterstützung wird ihnen zeigen, dass es noch viele Menschen gibt, die sich umeinander kümmern.

Eure Spenden werden direkt an John’s Familie gehen, ihnen helfen und John’s Gesundheit und seinen Neuanfang in Mexiko unterstützen. Aus Sicherheitsgründen mache ich die Identität der Familie nicht bekannt.
