Each year, students and faculty from the physical, occupational, and speech-language therapy departments of Alvernia University, the University of Pittsburgh, and Misericordia University travel to Belize to provide volunteer therapy services to individuals living with disabilities. Our mission is to provide education through sustainable rehabilitation, tailored to the needs of various community partners in Belize, which serve children, adults, and older adults with physical, cognitive, or developmental disabilities. We aim to provide community-based global learning to our international community partners and US-based educational institutions, fostering a global learning community. University students acquire valuable clinical and interpersonal skills while helping to meet the needs of our community partners through hands-on service learning. Our next trip is scheduled for January 16-25, 2026.
Donated funds will go directly to providing resources, transportation, food, and materials to the recipients of our services in Belize, such as providing transportation/meal costs for families to travel to treatment clinics for their children to receive therapy services. We greatly appreciate your help in making a lasting difference in the lives of individuals and communities we serve in Belize!
