Taller Comunidad La Goyco es un centro cultural comunitario integrado por vecinas y vecinos del sector Machuchal y Calle Loíza, donde se construyen iniciativas culturales, ambientales, comunitarias y de salud, desde la sede de la antigua Escuela Pedro G. Goyco de Santurce. La Goyco busca promover el empoderamiento comunitario sustentado en la solidaridad y la democracia, afirmando el derecho a habitar la ciudad. (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube)
Se aspira a que perdure y prospere como ancla de la convivencia vecinal y comunitaria, razón vital de su origen. Es gracias a la dedicación y compromiso entusiasta de colaboradores y participantes que pervive el proyecto: un equipo de trabajo constituido, una red de voluntariado, su Junta Directiva, artistas y creadores de artesanías que radican en la sede o son itinerantes y, en especial, cada habitante del barrio que ha hecho este sitio suyo.
Nos importa mantener y cultivar este espacio oasis, que facilita un quehacer necesario:
- Celebrar la cultura puertorriqueña y caribeña como eje de la pertenencia, la resistencia y la permanencia.
- Fortalecer nuestra salud física y mental mediante programas variados que se centran en diferentes aspectos del bienestar.
- Fomentar hábitos y proveer recursos que nos ayuden a velar por la salud del medio ambiente en el que vivimos y que debemos proteger.
- Compartir con disfrute en las muchas actividades que se ofrecen a lo largo del año: la feria mensual, las noches de cine y de jazz, los conversatorios de la Sala de Lectura, las exhibiciones en la Galería, las visitas a los talleres de los artistas, los recorridos del huerto, las fiestas de Halloween y Navidad, y tanto más.
- Ofrecer a la comunidad un centro de resiliencia con placas solares, cisterna, suministros de emergencia y un plan comunitario de manejo de emergencias.
Una manera de apoyar el proyecto es participando —hacerse parte—, dando vida y energía y propósito a nuestra misión conjunta. Otra manera es brindar apoyo financiero, tan requerido en estos tiempos de incertidumbre y precariedad.
Con tu donativo, estarás respaldando la continuidad de los servicios y el fortalecimiento de la programación de Taller Comunidad La Goyco.

Taller Comunidad La Goyco is a community cultural center developed by and for residents in the area of Machuchal and Calle Loíza whose programming consists of cultural, environmental, community, and health initiatives developed at the former Pedro G. Goyco School in Santurce. La Goyco seeks to promote community empowerment based on solidarity and democracy and to affirm the "right to the city." (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube)
The principal aspiration of this project is to endure and prosper as an anchor for the relationship that members of a community build with each other and with their surroundings. La Goyco's work is fruit of the dedication and enthusiastic commitment of collaborators and participants: its team of staff, its network of volunteers, its Board of Directors, the artists and craftspeople who have work space at La Goyco or who come to join us for special events, and, in particular, every resident of the neighborhood who has made this place their own.
It matters to us to maintain and cultivate this space, which facilitates so many necessary things:
- Celebrating Puerto Rican and Caribbean culture and leaning on it as a foundation for belonging, resilience, and the right to remain in our communities.
- Strengthening our physical and mental health through a variety of programs that focus on different aspects of wellness.
- Fostering habits and providing resources that help us care for the health of the environment in which we live and which we must protect.
- Spending time together at the many events offered over the course of the year: the monthly fair, movie and jazz nights, presentations in the Reading Room, exhibitions in the Gallery, visits to artists' workshops, tours of the community garden, the Halloween and Christmas parties, and much more.
- Providing the community with a resilience center equipped with solar panels, a cistern, emergency supplies, and a community emergency management plan.
One way to support the project is to participate in it—to be part of this community—to bring life, energy, and purpose to everything we aim to offer. Another way is to provide financial support, which is very necessary in these uncertain and precarious times.
With your donation, you will be contributing to the continuity of the services currently offered and the continued strength of La Goyco's work.
