Our organization played a central role in electing a majority of pro-accountability candidates to the newly created Police District Councils in the February 28th election, and a critical role in mobilizing 100,000 voters in the April runoff elections.
We put everything we had into these fights. And now we need support to consolidate these major victories, build real grassroots people power in the police districts, and continue our fight for community control of the police and freedom for torture survivors and the wrongfully convicted.
In order to start immediately organizing our communities in support of the elected District Councilors and the demands of the people to free torture survivors and the wrongfully convicted, we need to raise $10,000.
These funds will go towards costs of printing materials and setting up weekly tabling efforts in police districts across the city. Mobilizing Chicagoans through direct contact at weekly tables is how we gained support for CPAC, how we passed the ECPS ordinance, and how we will make the new District Councils into a force for accountability driven by the needs of our communities.
