Support the Wentworths in Their Urgent Move

Hello!

We are the Wentworth Family. Tyler, Amber, Kendall, Loralye, Quinn, Jack, and Briar.

We have lived in our rental for almost 8 years. When we moved in, the home was uninhabitable. Didn’t even have a working bathroom. We had made an arrangement with the owner (who lives next door) to fix the house up for him while living there. We have done 10s of thousands of dollars worth of work to the home. We did not have a signed contract, just a verbal agreement.

Our landlord doesn’t seem to understand renters rights. He comes onto the property all the time without notice and believes the items on his property belong to him. We have had items stolen from his friends. He has people come over unannounced which is very unnerving with small children.

On August 1st he had a friend come over to tell us he was going to take our green waste bin as they were doing yard work in their yard. We stated we were using it. The friend stated that the landlord pays for it so he should be able to use it. We stated that we understand he pays for it, but it’s for our use. We called the landlord on the phone to speak directly to him and not a third party and he verbally harassed Amber. Once Tyler got home to talk to him he physically assaulted Tyler. He has given us a 30 day verbal notice to vacate. We had already been looking for a new place to rent anyway, but now we are in a hurry to move out. Not only because of the 30 day notice, but the fact that we no longer feel safe in our own home.

We have found a place to rent and can start moving in, but we do not have the money for the security deposit saved up as Amber has been out of work due to medical reasons. We are asking for donations to help us with the $3000 security deposit that we need to secure a new home for us and our 5 children.
