Support the Watson Family After Tragic Loss

At Nucor, we prioritize the safety and well-being of our teammates beyond the workplace. On the evening of June 17th, 2024, our teammate Tracy Watson from the Nucor Rebar Fabrication in Fayetteville, NC, faced a life-altering event with the unexpected loss of his 20-year-old son, Jaylon "Tra" Trachan Watson.

Tracy's children mean the world to him, and this sudden tragedy has profoundly impacted him, his family, friends, and everyone who knew Tra. Tra was just a few months away from his 21st birthday in October and the birth of his first child, due the same month. Although Tra will not have the chance to meet his child, the love and support from everyone who cherished him will ensure that his child knows him.

Tra was a vibrant young man who lived life to the fullest, creating many cherished memories with his loved ones. We want Tracy and the Watson family to know that their Nucor family will continue to support them emotionally during this challenging time.

I close with these words from our fellow Nucor teammate Shayne Dinkle, "Don’t let the feelings you have today, and the thoughts you have today, distract you from the fact that tomorrow still needs you."
