Mindful Mamí: Activity Center&Internet

Donation protected
My name is Dominique Solís and I am fundraising for seed money to open a much needed high speed internet and facilitator-led activity space that caters to work from home parents with children under school age.

In the East Bay area, parents of young children face a significant challenge: the lack of safe, engaging activity spaces for young children during work hours. This problem is particularly acute for parents who need to balance their professional responsibilities with childcare duties. Many struggle to find suitable locations where their children can burn off energy while they attend to work-related tasks, take important calls, or simply have a moment to themselves.

With the rise of flexible work arrangements, there's an increasing demand for spaces like this

Mindful Mamí addresses these challenges by offering an innovative solution. Our facility combines a safe, engaging play area for children that also offers remote device access for adults. This design allows parents to supervise their children who are engaged in activities to attend to productively, and provides a peaceful environment for all patrons.

While we are NOT a childcare/ daycare facility, our staff actively welcomes each child  in maintaining engagement as we provide facilitator-led activities to support parents. This unique approach, combined with our high-quality coffee and high-speed internet access, creates a comprehensive solution to the pressing needs of parents and remote workers in the East Bay area under one roof.

Our facility addresses multiple needs simultaneously:

For parents: A safe space for children to play while they work or relax

Our experienced staff actively facilitates children's play, ensuring a fun environment for families.

Additionally, there will be a clothing donation option for our patrons. Accepting baby clothes from ages 0-24month, we will be creating a charity element to our program. The clothes will be sold at a heavily discounted rate where percentage of proceeds will go  towards local charities.
Clothes we cannot accept; the donator can take back or we can pass along to another nonprofit based out of Berkeley called Reach Shirati. Reach Shirati builds schools in Tanzania. They are happy to accept the clothes and provide them in their nursery.

In the future, we hope to enhance our offering, to provide additional services tailored to our community's needs:

Birthday party experiences during non-peak hours
Team building events and community gatherings in our space during later business hours
These services not only add value for our customers but also optimize our space usage during different times of the day.

Looking to the future, we plan to introduce "Pajama Party" - special evening events from 5pm to 8pm where parents can drop off their children for a fun-filled experience including pizza, a dance party, a movie, and snacks. This innovative offering will provide parents with the opportunity to enjoy a few hours to themselves, addressing the often-overlooked need for adult time in busy family schedules. By continuously evolving our services,Mindful Mamí aims to remain at the forefront of meeting the diverse needs of families and professionals in our community.

As a startup, Mindful Mamí is entering a market with strong growth indicators. The increasing trend of remote work, coupled with the consistent birth rates and the need for family-friendly spaces, presents a significant opportunity. Our unique combination of services addresses the unmet needs of these market segments, positioning us to capture a substantial share of this growing market.

We intend on not only supporting community, but also want to deliver and experience. With aesthetics in mind for a welcoming environment to all.

More info about me:

Together with my husband, I currently own a successful small business that has been in operation for 13 years. East Bay Dog Service is the only dog care and exercise business in the east bay that offers our very own dog park (1/4 acre of enclosed space). We have only seen growth from the beginning. Although we took a hit during pandemic we then came back with a resounding rebound. We now services an 8 mile radius, 40 homes and walk 36 dogs daily. We take 3 groups of dogs to our private dog park m-f with a total of five employees including us, the owners.

Prior to pet care, I worked in the restaurant industry for 8 years. My experience in both professions offers me insight on how to effectively and efficiently run a business, but also implement almost perfect customer service. My character highlights are being commutative and great with time management.

I have two young children and find time for myself. That is often used dreaming up projects, businesses and ways to give back.

I hope the above describes the vision well and you too see value in a space that supports families like yours.

I have the energy and I'm willing to put in the sweat equity if funds are available.

For those who know me, you know that I get stuff done. And well. I plan accordingly and strategically. I know I can make this happen.
