How do you define a life that is well lived?
With someone like Chris, it's rather easy. His life has been defined by the love and joy he brought to everyone around him. If you could measure that on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being a wet, moldy blanket on a cold rainy day and 10 being a supernova of light and happiness, Chris would be an easy 17—maybe even a 20 during a day out with friends. This fundraiser is a chance to honor his legacy and support the family he and Tricia have built, beautiful reminders of a life well lived. Pitch in by doing a very Chris-like thing, help where you can. As Chris would say, “what’s cabbage for if you can’t share it?” Much like his contagious laughter, in this way you can continue to spread the love and joy that Chris has brought to this world.
A vibrant contributor to their community
Chris Vaughan and his family have been a cornerstone of the Richmond community for decades, running Cabbage Hill Farm and sharing their passion for fresh, sustainable food. What began as Chris’s way to express his love to those he held so dear, feeding his family blossomed into a beloved local business, supplying restaurants and neighbors with micro greens, herbs, salad mixes, and their famous Zesto Pesto. The farm has always been more than a business—it’s a symbol and testament to the Vaughan family’s dedication, hard work, and love for those around them.
How you can help
Recently, Chris was diagnosed with untreatable cancer and entered hospice care. He passed away peacefully very soon after on Thursday, September 25th. This has brought immense challenges to his wife Tricia and their five children: Ethan, Keegan, Gareth, Cason, and Riley. With children returning home to help out, the family faces mounting household expenses and daily living costs, in addition to bills for college tuition. Chris was an extraordinary cook, and now, meal support is needed to help nourish the family during this difficult time. In addition to covering daily living and education expenses, funds will in part also help provide pre-made meals delivered to their home, ensuring the Vaughans can focus on caring for each other.
