A Call for Help

The Vargas Family Needs Us Now

With a heavy heart, I share this devastating update.

On Saturday, July 19th just after leaving a powerful women’s conference I received the call no one ever wants to get.

My brother, Leyson, accidentally shot himself while cleaning his firearm.

This was not an act of carelessness. It was a tragic accident that has now opened the door to a very long and painful journey a journey filled with surgeries, recovery, and uncertainty. But through it all, I believe: ABBA is still God, and He will show up.

I’m asking from the depths of my heart please don’t judge.

Please don’t speculate.

Just be the Church.

We don’t need criticism. We need compassion. We need intercession. We need love in action.

Leyson’s wife, Mabel, is now left to care for their five children ages 18, 13, 12, 9, and 8 while navigating this crisis. Their 18 year old is doing what she can, working to help cover car insurance and bills, but it’s more than one family can bear alone.

To make matters worse, the apartment complex is now requiring them to vacate, claiming this tragedy violated their lease. So not only are they enduring a medical emergency but they are now facing housing insecurity.

And yet…

I still believe in miracles.

I still believe God turns pain into purpose.

And I know that this testimony is not over Leyson’s life will speak of God’s glory.

But we need help.
