Support USA's Youth and Developmental Boomerang Team!
On April 15, 2026 the United States Boomerang Association (USBA) announced the formation of a Youth & Developmental boomerang team for the World Boomerang Championship (WBC). The tournament is this summer, 26 July - 04 August 2026, in Bandung, Indonesia. The coed team is composed of a mix of Middle School, High School, and College students, plus a recent graduate that has never competed on a previous boomerang team. Two of the girls are returning to international competition after throwing on the 2024 U.S. Youth (under 18) Team at the 2024 WBC in Denver, Colorado. This is the first team experience for the other three members.

Unlike in other international sports with tiered competition structures, the U.S. Developmental Team will compete directly against the best boomerang throwers in the world. The goal is to support these young athletes with the experience and education needed to become the world champions of tomorrow.

In addition to teaching sportsmanship and general health, the USBA places a strong emphasis on science, technology, and art. Kids learnt important principles of physics when they design, make, and throw their competition boomerangs. We place a strong emphasis on diversity and inclusion. There is a place for everyone in the sport of boomerangs! Female athletes compete on the same team as male athletes and are consistently among the top finishers at every world cup. The organization fosters an empowering environment for children to build self-esteem while allowing them to compete on the world stage. The U.S. Youth & Developmental Team members get to interact with students and athletes from around the globe; making new, life-long friendships.

In the United States, the sport of modern boomerang throwing began after the publication of a 1968 Scientific American article, and subsequent yearly educational workshops held by the Smithsonian Institute on the National Mall in Washington, DC. These workshops introduced countless people to the art and science of making and throwing boomerangs.

This resurgence in interest led to the formation of the non-profit United States Boomerang Association (USBA) and creation of the World Team and Individual Boomerang Championships (WBC).

The U.S. has participated in the WBC since the first International Team Cup held in 1987. Traditionally, the U.S. sends two national teams to the biennial WBC. The addition of the U.S. Youth & Developmental Team makes three all-American teams competing for the 2026 World Cup.
The U.S. team is vying to win back the WBC Champion title earned at the 2022 WBC in Bordeaux, France after loosing to Brazil at the 2024 WBC in Denver, Colorado.
As a non-profit seeking to provide youth with opportunities for education, health, and cultural awareness through boomerangs, the USBA set up this GoFundMe page to help young competitors and coaches with expenses. Your donations directly support the U.S. Youth & Developmental Team with travel, lodging, uniforms, tournament fees, and equipment. We set a goal of $15,000. All donations are tax-deductible for those with a US Tax Payer ID (SSN, ITIN, etc).

“Boomerangs are a metaphor for life,
what goes around comes around,
throw good into the world, you'll get good back.
If you’re a good person and take care of those in need, good things will happen to you.”
– Logan Broadbent, USA Team Member
