Support the Unseen Heroes of the Texas Flood Recovery
Donation protected
When floods swept through Texas, we watched, we grieved, we prayed. Now, the headlines have faded— but the work hasn't.
My name is Emily Higginson, and I live in Bothell, Washington. I’m raising funds for volunteers, clergy, and nonprofit workers in Kerrville, Texas connected to First United Methodist Church and Schreiner University who’ve spent the last month helping flood victims —many working 7 days a week, unpaid and unseen.
They’ve participated in search and rescue.
Helped Identified those lost in the flood.
Officiated funerals at no cost to families.
Offered trauma support, comfort, and hope to their community.
They’re holding the community together—often while juggling jobs, families, and their own flood losses.

Why This Fundraiser?
Most donations go to flood victims, as they should.
But those doing the helping—those carrying the emotional, physical, and logistical weight—have little to no support.
This campaign is for them.
⸻
How Funds Will Be Used?
Donations will go through staff leadership at First United Methodist Church and Schreiner University Administration, to:
• Provide meals, therapy, rest, or time off
• Cover modest home repairs not covered by insurance
• Offer small stipends or appreciation gifts
• Support clergy who’ve oversee "flood funerals"
• Pay any admin fees or taxes tied to distribution
• Help them reclaim missed family moments and milestones
⸻
Why I Care?
These helpers are my family, my friends, mentors, and neighbors of people I love. I’ve seen their updates—exhausted, grieving, but still showing up every day. They didn’t ask for help, but they need it now.
I’ll work directly with local leaders to ensure funds are used ethically and fairly, and I’ll share updates here.

The news has moved on, but Kerrville is still rebuilding. Let’s give back to the people who never stopped giving.
