My name is Oyin Kalejaiye and I’m the mother of 3 boys including identical twin boys who were born profoundly deaf.

I set up this fundraiser to raise money for the work the boys and I are trying to do through our charity, The Toni and Tosin Foundation.

My twin sons, Toni and Tosin Kalejaiye are nearly 14 years old and raising them has totally transformed my life.

The journey hasn’t been easy by any means, I don’t think anything can prepare a parent/carer for the mind blowing experience of raising children with additional needs however I am grateful that my boys have been supported by world renowned hospitals and professionals. So after many challenging but rewarding years they currently attend an outstanding specialist school for deaf children and are doing well. They are bilingual, first language is British Sign Language (BSL) and through the help of bilateral cochlear implants processors they have access to sound and with years intensive speech and language therapy they understand and speak English language as well.

Over the years I have been involved in a lot of charitable work supporting deaf children, young people and their families in the UK as a way giving back and mentoring other parents/carers of deaf children. My twins and I are well known within the deaf community because of the work I do with the National Deaf Children’s Society which is a national charity in the UK.

For the last couple of years though I have wanted to do even more to support, empower and advocate on the behalf of deaf children, young people and their families .

This is why I set up The Toni and Tosin Foundation, to bring hope to the deaf community and to positively transform the lives of deaf children and young people in the UK and Nigeria.

Our mission is simple - it is to support and empower by raising funds to provide specialist services and early interventions to those children/young people who can no longer afford to wait to access these services. We fund services like privately funded therapeutic interventions to provide urgent mental health support or speech and language therapy. In Nigeria we will provide funds for basic needs and specialist equipment like hearing aids, cochlear implants and radio aids. In both countries we will also provide funds for parents/carers and families to access sign language courses/classes so they can communicate effectively with their deaf children/young people.

The work has already started at the foundation but the boys and I need your support because we cannot do it alone and there’s a lot of work to be done! There are deaf children, young people and families waiting on us for support.
