I started this fundraiser to launch The Stonehaven Series, an accessible, monthly staged reading series produced by my LLC Stonehaven Studios in partnership with Willie Agee Playhouse in Inglewood. As an independent arts and wellness company, we’ve been given a grant from the City of Burbank and Dramatists Guild Foundation to launch this unique series, with the goal to produce performances monthly through 2028. However, launching this project responsibly requires upfront community support. Too often, artists are asked to develop new work without pay or adequate resources. This fundraiser was created to do the opposite, to ensure artists are paid equitably, production rights are secured, and performances remain accessible to the community.
Our inaugural event will be the premiere of Cris Eli Blak's new play "Sing for Me" on January 26, 2026. If produced sustainably, we plan to expand this season as a historiography of theatre dating back to 1830. We want to feature plays by Katori Hall, Dominique Morriseau, Alice Childress, August Wilson, Carlyle Brown and more. The funds raised will directly support artist stipends, rehearsal and production costs, and the infrastructure needed to sustain this series long-term. This campaign isn’t just about one show—it’s about building a consistent, community-rooted home for new work in Inglewood and Los Angeles.
If you believe artists deserve to be paid fairly, stories deserve to be heard, and that theatre should be accessible to everyone, we invite you to join our movement at Stonehaven. We’re asking friends, neighbors, and fellow artists to help us raise funds for the first season of our Stonehaven Series. Your contribution directly supports artists, secures production rights, and helps us create a sustainable home for arts education in Inglewood. No gift is too small. Whether you’re able to give, share this campaign, or simply spread the word, you are helping make this series possible. Together, we will build a model for developing new voices, one play, one gathering, one community at a time.
Thank you for all your help! We truly appreciate it.
