Support the staff of Glory Doughnuts
Donation protected
We are reaching out to tell our story and ask the Frederick community for help.
The closing of Glory was not only a shock to the community but the staff as well. With less than a weeks notice the staff was told that Glory would be closing. The owners rallied us together to prepare for one last hoorah, only for us to receive an abrupt text at 3:30 am that ownership was shutting the doors for good.
Due to overall mismanagement of the payroll system, staff is left with paycheck discrepancies, bounced checks, and withheld income both past and forthcoming. The employees are now facing a number of hardships including but not limited to homelessness, custody issues, food scarcity, difficulty in finding jobs with proper accommodations for disabled employees, and coping with the loss of what we thought was a safe and supportive environment for the LGBTQIA staff.
The owners stressed the importance of family within the work place, but the betrayal the staff felt through this experience was unimaginable.
The staff feels left behind and broken, but with the community and love we have formed with one another we want to fight against this injustice.
So we kindly ask the community to support this staff in anyway possible during a time of financial hardship and crisis. We’ve calculated our goal based upon immediate employee needs. Any excess that may remain will be donated to the Frederick Community Fridge.
We thank you for your continued love and support, Frederick.
Sincerely,
The Former Glory Employees
For clarity on how the donations are being used:
1. We are a group of 10 coworkers raising funds to help all of us get out of the difficult situation our ex employer has put us in.
2. Our former head baker has graciously taken on the responsibility of transferring the funds into their account and dividing it among the staff based on urgency of each individuals situation.
3. There is no added beneficiary to receive bank transfers.
