For the past three years, the Smith Family has been living through a situation no one should have to endure.

What began as a serious plumbing issue quickly became a nightmare when the City of Akron failed to address the problem—despite reports, emails, follow-ups, and many pleas for help.
The Smith Family did everything they were supposed to do, trusting that the city would take responsibility. Instead, they were disregarded and left to deal with worsening conditions on their own.
After two years of stress, disruption, and damage to their home, the family was told they were responsible for $30,000 in repairs—a cost they can't afford and should never be forced to carry.
This situation has caused:
• Ongoing damage to their home (sewage flooded their basement and garage)
• Emotional and financial strain (they cannot flush toilet paper and must put it in disposable bags. They also have a son with special needs who cannot be without water—which is scheduled to be turned off on 1/16)
• Countless hours of advocating for themselves just to be heard
• Harassment and disregard from city officials
• Unsafe and unsanitary living conditions
• Possible displacement
We are asking for help to relieve the financial burden placed on this family due to negligence that was completely out of their control.
The Smith Family is exhausted, overwhelmed, and still fighting for a fair resolution.
Any donation—no matter the size—will help this family move forward after two long years of being ignored.
Thank you for rallying around the Smith Family and being their community when they need it most.
