The Skyhorse Carousel is an amusement ride, art installation, and science outreach project celebrating human culture and cosmology from ancient to modern times, with figures depicting those humble beasts who traverse the skies as part of the clockwork of the universe-- bearing, guiding, and embodying the Sun, Moon, and stars.

In 2024, we rehabilitated the carousel and painted all the horses, transforming it into an interactive experience of art, education, and play. This fundraiser is Part 2 of our goal, facilitating the costs required to repaint the scenery panels. Please see our website for a transparent breakdown of our budget. Funds donated to this project will go to things like: paint and painting supplies, lumber and hardware to build some new racks for transporting it, and supplies to update aging electrical systems.

This carousel traveled to the Burning Man art festival in 2024 where we gave more than 5000 rides, and will return in 2026. See our outreach engagement report on our website!
