The Run to the Rogue
Commemorating the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz – 1856 Trail of Tears
Join our community by welcoming the runners and participants from the Confederated Trines of the Siletz on their annual journey from Siletz to the Rogue River, June 1st, 2024 at the Port Orford Community Center. We need volunteers to donate food, help prepare meals, clean up and genuinely invite our indigenous friends from Siletz. Send a message to Joanie here to offer your assistance and get more information. Thank you!
The Winter of 1856 forced First Nations peoples to relocate and that remains a bitter piece of history for the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz.
Runners and walkers commemorate the infamous move in a 234-mile, 3-day event.
A community dinner provided by the Port Orford community members has been part of this relation retracing for decades and is a huge part of their journey.
Wildfires and COVID have canceled the event the past few years. This year we are expecting 150 people so let’s make this a heartfelt event.
Thank you, Port Orford, the small town with a big heart and only town on this historical walk to invite our tribal friends to share goof, stories and the true community spirit of love.
Please donate your time or funds to help with this important event. Thank you for your support!
