Support The Robbins House: Preserve Our History

Tax deductible
On April 8th, The Robbins House—Concord’s museum dedicated to African-American history—received a devastating notice from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). Effective immediately, they terminated an existing $60,000 grant. This grant covered nearly half of the annual operating budget and directly supported the role of the Executive Director, so ably held by Jen Turner.
Here is the reason provided by IMLS:
“IMLS has determined that your grant is unfortunately no longer consistent with the agency’s priorities and no longer serves the interest of the United States and the IMLS Program. IMLS is repurposing its funding allocations in a new direction in furtherance of the President’s agenda.”
In plain terms: the President’s agenda no longer includes the history of African-Americans. This is not just a bureaucratic shift—it is an act of erasure.
We cannot let this happen.
Our history matters. Our stories matter. The Robbins House exists to tell them, to preserve them, and to ensure they continue to inform and inspire future generations.
Now, more than ever, we need to step in where federal support has been withdrawn. We need to send a message that we will not be silenced or sidelined.
In response, I’ve launched a GoFundMe campaign. Your tax-deductible donation will not only help us retain Jen Turner’s leadership—it will show that our community stands for truth, justice, and historical integrity.
Let’s answer this setback with strength and solidarity.
