Support the Ripon Cathedral Choristers

The Ripon Cathedral choristers are an extraordinary group of young people who go above and beyond to create beautiful music for the Cathedral. They work tirelessly all year round, learning how to read music, sing a wide repertoire composed by many different composers and learn musical theory. They rehearse both before and after school most days of the week and spend their Sundays at the Cathedral. Words cannot express how brilliant, resilient, talented and strong these young choristers are.

The choristers have been presented with an amazing opportunity to travel to the Regensburg, Bavaria in Germany to share their talent and music in many different venues for 5 days. These include services at Munich Cathedral, Regensburg Cathedral and a concert in one of Germany’s biggest Baroque churches, Waldsassen Basilica. They have the opportunity to experience German culture and sing in a multitude of beautiful buildings.

When an opportunity like this arises, for the choristers to take a once in a life time trip, we believe nothing should stand in their way. They work hard every week and the opportunity to share their skill with the world should be celebrated and supported. Therefore, we have decided to come together to ensure that each child gets the chance to take part.

We are a group of women who work with, or are close to, the cathedral music department and see the hard work and dedication of these children on a daily basis and believe they should have the chance to go to Bavaria. We are taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, to raise money for the choristers. We will be embarking on a 26 mile walk which will include climbing the three Yorkshire peaks, Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, with the cumulative ascent of 1585m, within 12 hours.
