Support the Revamp of New Providence NJT Station
Donation protected
Hello! We recently moved to Summit and commute weekly out of the New Providence NJT Station. If you’ve gone by the NJT station recently, or use the station to commute, you know that it (including the area surrounding) is in need of some sprucing up.
In partnership with NJ Transit, I’ve recently adopted the NP NJT Station with the end goal of a train station that is a better representation of the wonderful Summit / New Providence area.
Below is a breakdown of initial actions to help transform the station:
- Trash Removal around station (complete, although this is ongoing)
- Repainting the station (complete)
- Landscape upgrade (not yet started)
In order to work through the landscape upgrade, I’ve worked with our friends @ Infantini Landscaping to come up with a vision on how to improve the landscaping through minor weeding, mulching, trimming, and planting. They've provided a quote of $2,765 for all of the work.
Here is a breakdown of the landscaping proposal:
- Trim shrubs, weed, clear debris $250
- Mulch bed around shrubs $400
- Remove existing shrubs in front of building, add new compost/soil, and plant Boxwoods 36/42” along front of building street side $300
- Install bed, leave space for seasonals $350
- (5) Feather Reed around NP sign $135
- (3) Cherry Laurels in front / under sign $225
- (5) large boxwoods $825
- (2 yrds) Soil $130
- (5 yrds) Mulch $150
- TOTAL $2,765
Unfortunately, no funding is available via NP, Summit or NJT to complete this project, so if we want to get this done, it is something we'll have to fund ourselves. If you’re interested in seeing this project completed, please consider donating!
Thank you!
