On Saturday, July 11th, Segundo Quizhpi Quizhpi was detained by ICE in Baltimore, Maryland on his way to work. He was immediately taken to Farmville Virginia Detention Center, four hours away from his home and his family. At three in the morning, on July 12th, after hours of worrying about where he was, his wife received terrible news that he was in ICE detention.

His unexpected detention leaves the Quizhpi family without a father and husband. Mr. Quizhpi Quizhpi is a hard working and caring father to four US citizens, two of whom are minors and three of whom are still younger than 21. He has been in this country since 2000 and he has done nothing but work and provide for his wife and children. His eldest daughter, Julie Quizhpi, has worked hard to give back to her community as a bilingual dermatologist’s assistant. After graduating from Dickinson College in 2025, she received a Bachelor’s in Biochemistry and Spanish and remains an active alumni sister to Sigma Lambda Gamma Sorority, Inc. Additionally, Mr. Quizhpi Quizhpi is financially supporting his son, John Quizhpi, through college; he attends Stevenson University where he majors in Accounting. His third child, Christopher Quizhpi, is still a minor and is just starting his last year at Dunbar High School. His youngest, Kayla Quizhpi, is only six years old and has barely started elementary school. Separating them and their two younger siblings from their father is absolutely traumatic, destabilizing, and cruel. These children need Mr. Quizhpi Quizhpi in their lives. His sacrifices throughout the years were to ensure that his children were getting the best education and opportunities possible. He consistently shows his love for his children by providing them a safe home that has allowed them to become an essential part of the Baltimore community. Lastly, he is an active member of his church, which has strengthened his love for his religion and family.

Mr. Quizhpi Quizhpi is the sole provider for his family; keeping him in detention will place his family in a dire financial situation. Without him, it will be extraordinarily difficult for his family to afford basic housing, healthcare, and food expenses along with educational costs. Currently, Julie is the only member of her family that is working a full time job. Therefore, her main focus is to ensure that her family is receiving their daily essentials and that her younger siblings can continue their education. They have no means of affording costly lawyer fees and bail. Legal representation can become very costly and we want to avoid adding even more expenses to their plate.

Now that Mr. Quizhpi Quizhpi is detained, we are raising funds for his lawyer fees, bail, commissary, and for basic needs. We ask for those who are able to please donate for these expenses.
